We are very much pleased and happy to let you all know that Very Rev. Fr Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, bishop of Mangalore diocese, inaugurated and blessed the new church of Sacred Heart of Jesus at Vorkady on Friday August 20th.
The bishop was welcomed by parish priest Fr Francis Rodrigues and office bearers of pastoral committee. The memorable day began with blessing of the new church and then mass. The Mass was offered by the bishop. Vicar-var of Kasaragod Varado Fr Stany Pereira, Vicar General Fr Maxim Noronha and Parish Priest Fr Francis Rodrigues concelebrated the Mass. Fr Vijay Machado director of DBCLC coordinated the Mass.
Post the mass celebration, the new parish priest resident attached to the church was blessed along with the basement.
In the stage programme that was held later, the bishop presided over the function. Vicar-va Fr Stany Pereira, vicar general Fr Maxim Noronha, Sr Cynthia Siqueira, Vice-President Rony DSouza and Secretary Jayaprakash DSouza were present.
A documentary which has the complete history of the church was also released on this occasion. Engineer Devaraj was felicitated by the bishop. Fr Francis Rodrigues welcomed the gathering. Rony D’Souza rendered the vote of thanks. The programme was compered by Sr Severine D’Cunha and Laveena Monteiro.
Due to covid pandemic rules, as it was not possible to gather large crowd, only the pastoral committee member and approved officials were present. The full live coverage was aired by Daijiworld via YouTube channel and the photography/videography was handled by Relive Films.
